chapel entertainment

Why is it that when we have a "badass" guest speaker we like it?
Why do we need someone to say the word "bitch" in order to stay awake and pay attention as we sit in the chapel seats?
Why is it that we leave or get enraged if we are challenged?
Why is it that we enjoy chapel and we get a lot out of it when the bible isn't even open?
Granted, it was entertaining. I laughed and I realize that it is good to serve people, but I don't think I learned anything about my God. MY Jesus. I'm not offended by the use of the word "bitch". I totally agree that sometimes there is no other word that will suffice, and I really think that our speaker today was a total badass, I'd love to be friends with her, it would be super fun.
But, why is it that I have to defend the speakers that bring out the bible and teach black and white? I don't want to feel good. This would mean I am complacent. Things have to change in order to change, and change is not always comfortable. I want to learn. I love learning others' stories, I love hearing how life has treated them and why they have become they way they are as they are shaped through experiences. I love hearing about the defeat of alcoholism and finding church after never knowing God. But I really just don't understand how we are so prone to listen and be inspired after being entertained by controversy, rather than be compelled and inspired by someone speaking the truth.
